One of the hardest challenges I have had in my life is quit smoking. The sense of accomplishment I felt afterwards sent me down a path I wouldn’t want to stray from.
At the time of writing, it has been about 3 years since my last cigarette! Challenging myself and succeeding was a good feeling and upon reflection, it is something I want to do more of.
The three main things I try to challenge myself with daily are as follows:
- Trying to achieve more in my professional life.
- Improving my overall health.
- Gaining new knowledge wherever possible.
Although gaining new knowledge should be pretty easy when living in a totally different culture, its rarely obtained passively and I need to commit myself to obtaining it.
When researching alternative ways to grow professionally, I came across a great quote in an article about The Benefits of Setting Ambitious Goals .
“By setting ambitious goals regularly, you’ll drive yourself to learn the skills you need to further your own career”
I took this quote to heart and have been trying to apply it to everything I do. I think this is one of the major reasons I chose to create Healthpats.com. The lack of understanding of the logistics of living healthily abroad has sometimes been challenging.
Accepting Challenges: The Operation Series
Over the course of 2017, I’m going to put myself through a number of challenges I’m calling ‘operations’ and share the results with anyone that is interested. These operations will all revolve around health, nutrition and fitness and all could potentially help expats in Thailand live a healthier lifestyle.
Although I have plenty of challenges I want to undertake…I’m also really keen to get some suggestions from other people too!
If you have any suggestions or thoughts, please leave me a comment!
